The second floor takes shape, we take first steps on the third floor, and we prepare for rain.

Let me take you on a tour of the second floor! The cantilevered area of the bathroom (where either the bathtub or the shower will be) looks really cool...

... and the wall between the the bathroom and the back bedrooms is up- it has studs that are offset, so that insulation can be woven in and out of them, increasing soundproofing...

The view from the bedroom is beautiful! The spaces to the left and right of the sliding glass door will be glass panels, so that whole wall will be glass.

Here's looking from the bedroom through the bathroom door...

... whereas this is standing in the bathroom- on the left is the door to the bedroom, on the far right you can just see the door to the closet. Straight ahead against the wall is where the sinks will be.

And now let me take you up to the 'third' floor! There is no structure up there yet, but Sam had to throw some plywood down so we could get up there and see what the view was like! It's really remarkable. Even better than we'd thought it'd be. You can see to Coronado and Ocean Beach, and you can see the roller-coaster in Mission Beach.

For now, the way up to the third floor is a bit sketchy, but Sam goes up (his ankle is improving rapidly!)

From up there, looking towards the back of the house...

... and towards the front. You can see in the first picture that the flooring isn't completed yet, and in the second picture, if you look really close, right in the middle, is a white speck that is actually a ship. I don't yet have any pictures taken from up there on a super-clear day, but they'll come! It's even prettier on a clear day.

The forecast had said that it was supposed to rain this weekend, (it did), so Sam asked Dale to weather-proof everything. He did a great job:

Today the sky is still a tad grey, but we hope that the rain is over. Since Sam's ankle is feeling quite a bit better, today work will continue- and I suspect that he'll be back to his old pace in no time. Even when he couldn't do physical work he didn't really slow down, but was making phone calls, studying the plans, coming up with questions for the architect...

It's amazing how quickly things are going! Stay tuned...
